The McKnight (Pre-Doctoral) Graduate NANO-STEM Fellowship Program is designed to address the underrepresentation of African American, Hispanic, and female students enrolled in STEM programs specific to nanotechnology in the State of Florida. This Fellowship program will prepare graduate students earning the Master of Science in Pharmaceutical Nanotechnology at the University of South Florida to pursue Ph.D. degrees in STEM fields and/or equip them with the knowledge and skills required to enter the workforce directly following graduation.

Objective:

The McKnight Graduate NANO-STEM Fellowship Program objective is to increase the number of underrepresented African American, Hispanic, and females who enroll in Ph.D. programs and/or enter the career sector by pursuing a career in research or industry. This Program will enhance participation and services in STEM fields for underrepresented groups while bringing awareness to the field of nanotechnology as an emerging field in the sciences.

The Award:

Fellowships will be awarded annually for study towards the Master of Science in Pharmaceutical Nanotechnology degree at the University of South Florida, Taneja College of Pharmacy. Each award provides full tuition up to $15,000 to cover the required 32 credit hours.


Eligibility:

Applicants must be African American, Hispanic, and/or female U.S. citizens, hold a minimum of a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university, and be accepted into the Master of Science in Pharmaceutical Nanotechnology degree program at the University of South Florida, Taneja College of Pharmacy. The Fellowship will be awarded only to persons who intend to seek the Ph.D. degree fulltime in a STEM field of study or enter the workforce directly following graduation.


Application:

Each applicant must submit the online Fellowship application form (registration and login buttons below) and also email or mail all required documentation requested below to FEF to mdf@fefonline.org or to 201 E. Kennedy Blvd., Suite 1525, Tampa, FL 33602. The application and all documentation requested below must be submitted to and received by FEF by August 14, 2023.

In addition to completing the online application form, each applicant must submit by email or mail:

  • A résumé or curriculum vitae (CV);
  • Official transcripts from each institution attended;
  • Three letters or recommendation from individuals who can speak to the applicant's academic potential; and
  • A completed Residency Affidavit. Download the Affidavit here. Even if NOT claiming Florida residency, the applicant must sign the Affidavit in the appropriate space and submit it.

Conditions of Fellowship:

Each Fellowship recipient must agree to the stipulations in the award agreement that will accompany the Fellowship award letter, which include the obligation to present their research at McKnight conferences, regularly update their McKnight program directory information, and complete periodic surveys as requested by FEF.


Notice of Awards:

Recipients of Graduate NANO-STEM Fellowships will be notified via electronic mail. To ensure timely notification, each applicant must include a complete and accurate e-mail address in the online application.
